Two Tone Glazed Dresser

Deanna from It’s Just Me was given this chest of drawers by a friend. It looked great when she saw it in the photo but little did she know it had a few skeletons in its closet. Or should I say exoskeletons since the dresser was filled with TONS of yucky creepy crawlers.

It took hours of cleaning to even get this baby ready for her makeover. Then came the stripping, sanding, painting, and glazing! Deanna says, “This piece took me about 42 hours of HARD work but was worth every minute.”

Black Burlap Table

Kim from RePOSHture recently refabbed a couple of roadside tables using a beautiful combination of black paint and burlap. Both tabletops had insets that weren’t looking so hot and needed to go.

I love how Kim replaced the insets with burlap. The texture of the natural fiber looks great with the smooth finish of the semi-gloss paint. I really think Kim’s painted border is the perfect finishing touch and draws the whole piece together.

Guitar Spice Shelf

From clocks to coffee tables, I have seen some pretty cool ideas for upcycling old instruments. I can imagine it’s hard for a musician to part with a beloved guitar or set of drums, so repurposing them makes all the more sense. That was the case for the genius behind Bayadaim who was determined to find a way to salvage his guitar after it broke.

It took a year of gathering dust in the garage before the idea of turning this trusty friend into a spice shelf came to fruition. Talk about some creative shelving! It would really be cute for displaying musical mementoes or knickknacks.

Wood Chevron Planter

Dez and Seth from 91204 created an AWESOME wood planter that will bring some serious style to your outdoors. While the main box frame was built from redwood and cedar, leftover pieces of pallet wood are the real stars here.

I love how Dez and Seth added splashes of color to a few of the boards and then arranged them to create a chevron pattern around the main frame. It’s like a piece of art for your yard!

Mirror to Chalkboard

Oversized chalkboards have become very popular for their decorative and functional capabilities. Plus, they happen to be super easy to DIY, especially if you can get your hands on an old mirror. Jessica from Mom 4 Real had this dark wood mirror hanging out in her bedroom and was eager to give it a revamping.

This project really was as simple as primer and paint! Jessica loves that she can move her new chalkboard around her house and easily change what it says whenever she pleases.

Hubcap Flower Garden

Have you ever driven past an old hubcap sitting on the side of the road and wondered what it could possibly become? If so, Mike from Blue Velvet Chair has your answer! She went on a hubcap hunt and came up with three greasy, grimy plastic hubcaps that were in need of a good scrubbing.

After their bath, Mike used spray paint and a other embellishments to turn the hubcaps into a beautiful, blooming wall garden. Meet Flora, Fauna, and Merryweather. I love these for an outside garden area but can also see them making super cute wall décor in a play area.

Monogrammed Mailbox

Andrea from Queen B and Me rescued this mailbox from the trash after her husband ripped it off the post at their new home and chucked it into the garbage. He underestimated Andrea’s determination to make the beaten up mailbox “cute” (and her stealthy skills at sneaking it into their car!)

Mailbox_Before

Andrea completed her mailbox makeover mission (say that three times fast!) with some sandpaper, primer, and paint. When Andrea later gave the mailbox to her husband, he didn’t even realize it was the same one!

Drum Coffee Table

Tim from Kara Paslay Designs shares how to repurpose an old drum into a unique coffee table that gives off a soft glow. Tim started with an old, inexpensive drum. While I don’t know too much about musical instruments, it’s a pretty safe bet that you could score an old drum from a garage sale or thrift store. drum to coffee table

Tim removed the black laminate from the drum’s exterior and refinished the underlying wood with a rich stain. He then used a string of Christmas lights to create the glowing interior and finished it off with the glass tabletop from an old patio set. Isn’t this the coolest table for a music lover?
