Outdoor Pallet Bench

Ginger from Gingerly Made could no longer avoid the “pallet craze” sweeping through blog land and had to get in on the action. A birthday barbeque made for the perfect excuse to upcycle four small pallets into outdoor seating.

Ginger and her husband worked together to create this cozy little seating area that features a simple pallet wood bench frame and cushions. While Ginger once hated her “pitiful” deck, she now loves it!

Creamer Bottle Bowling

My husband is an avid coffee drinker, so creamer bottles are regulars in our recycling bin. Jen of Plain Vanilla Mom recently had a blast from the past when she found some old creamer bottles that were her son’s main source of entertainment a few years back.

What fun can you have with creamer bottles? Jen’s son is full of ideas, but his all-time fave was creating his own little bowling alley. He even requested that Jen set up the pins in “tricky” configurations. How cute! It’s really funny how similar the bottles look to bowling pins with the labels removed!

Faux Butcher Block Cabinet

All of us dumpster-diving, roadkill rescuing fanatics await the day when we will be driving along and see a pile of loot sporting the beautiful letters F-R-E-E. For Dy at Just Simply Live that dream finally became a reality and landed her with this unique wood cabinet.

Dy painted the base a crisp white and then used different colors of stain to achieve a butcher block finish as inspired by Mandi from Vintage Revivals. Dy says this is her favorite piece to date. Not only was it free but just “really rad.” Who knows… maybe tomorrow will be YOUR lucky day!

Whitewashed Metal Bucket

This rusty bucket had been kicking around on the front porch of Jennifer at Town and Country Living for quite some time. In fact, it had been there so long she wasn’t even sure where it had come from.

rusty bucket makeover

One thing was for certain though – it was time for a makeover! Jennifer whitewashed the bucket with chalk paint, leaving on some of the rust to add texture. She then “Frenchified” it by transferring on a graphic with her tried and true Mod Podge method.

Tin Can Lanterns

When hosting a summer party, Elise from Grow Creative decked out her backyard with beautiful lanterns made from recycled tin cans. Elise froze her cans first to better hold their shape as she punched away with a hammer and nails.

I love the look of multiple lanterns clustered together and think they would create a great outdoor ambience as the summer evenings cool down and give way to crisp fall nights. I know I am thinking a bit ahead, but I can also see a collection of orange and black cans making a great Halloween display while trick-or-treaters are out and about.

Barstool Sawhorse Desk

After replacing her inexpensive barstools with new ones, Whitney from Shanty 2 Chic was about to pass the oldies along to someone else. That is, until inspiration struck to repurpose them into something chic!

Do those legs look familiar to you? Maybe a little like a sawhorse desk? {smile} Whitney added some furring strips to create small shelves and a pine panel for the top. Even a novice DIYer could tackle a building project like this one!

Painted Wood Highchair

Kammy from Kammy’s Corner was enlisted to make this wood highchair “new” again for a friend who had recently had a baby. The chair had been found by the girl’s father, and she simply wasn’t loving the shabby vintage look.

Kammy turned to her paintbrush and let the creative juices flow, making sure the chair was plenty durable by adding in some Plaster of Paris and finishing with poly. Ain’t no spoon-banging baby going to damage this chair!

Media Console from Dresser

Gail from My Repurposed Life shows us with this project why she is the queen of repurposing! What started out as a curbside chest of drawers (with all but two if the drawers MIA!), Gail transformed into…

Chest of Drawers into Ent. Center (2)[3]

a media console perfect for a flat screen TV! Considering the chest of drawers wasn’t really serving its purpose without its drawers, Gail scaled it down with her circular saw and gave it new function. It takes some serious DIY savvy to take a saw to a piece of furniture and redesign it!
