Wine Cork Backsplash

At Create.Craft.Love., Jill shares a project that her sister, Jennifer undertook: repurposing wine corks into a kitchen backsplash. First off, Jill reassures us that her sister didn’t drink all the wine necessary to get these corks. “Jennifer enlisted the help of all of her friends and some local wine stores/restaurants over the past year and they collected over 800 corks to pull this off!”

Collecting the corks was the first step. After the corks were ready to go, they made plywood templates of the backsplash. The corks were glued to the templates, instead of the drywall. That way, if she gets tired of this look, Jennifer can easily remove her cork backsplash. And-this is for all of you that worry about using unusual materials for backsplashes-they covered the backsplash with spray-on sealant, so that it would be protected. It looks great!
