At Architecture of a Mom, Rachel found these little boxes while thrifting. They looked like they may have broken off a desk, and since no one else wanted them, the shop let her take them for $1.
“I considered replacing the bottom piece of wood on broken box,” says Rachel, “but then I noticed how the base actually raised the box a little—and that slit would be perfect to fit cords through.” That discovery made her think of the charging stations she’d seen in Pottery Barn catalogs, and inspired a makeover. Rachel sanded and painted the boxes. Now they sit on the nightstands in her master bedroom, serving as charging stations for the various electronics she and her husband use. Great idea!
