Kammy completed a super fun upcycling project for her house this summer, and she blogged about it at Kammy’s Korner. This is definitely an idea to pin for use next spring, or to keep on file under “Things To Do With Extra Drawers.” She completely reimagined some old dresser drawers as garden window boxes!
For this project, Kammy upcycled a couple items: drawers that had no dresser and some long planter boxes that she’d found curbside. These drawers were perfect for outside use, since the fronts were faux wood plastic. Almost perfect, that is: while Kammy’s original idea had been to use the drawer box itself as a planter, she realized early on that particle board wasn’t going to hold up to the weather. Instead, she created a “faux” box, using the freshly painted, yellow drawer fronts in front of planter boxes. This totally gave the look of dresser drawer window boxes, but in a way that will hold up to the wear and tear of sun, wind, and rain much better. Aren’t they adorable?

Thanks for the love!
I love it! The shade of yellow is just right and the drawer handles say “Yes, I am a drawer and aren’t I lovely with flowers?”
