Saved Stump Begins New Life as a Table

Julie has been working on a big redecorating project and blogging about it at Redhead Can Decorate. She’s giving her family room the look of a mountain lodge, and decided that she needed an ultra rustic accent table. It wasn’t hard to find the materials for this one, Julie explains, “We had to cut down a dead elm tree in our yard due to safety concerns.”

Julie looked for a large piece of wood leftover from the elm tree that didn’t have any bark. Once she found one that had a pleasing appearance, she carried it to the drive way and in her words, “Sprayed the heck out of it with bug spray!” Next, Julie tells us, “We let it dry for a week, then my wonderful hubby sanded it with an electric sander, just enough to get a fresh, clean look.” The stump was then stained and sealed, ready to begin a new life as an accent table in the new lodge-style family room. I love it!
