Over at Salt and Pepper Moms, Devin “wanted a new potted plant for my porch but quite frankly did not want to spend any money on it.” Her aloe vera transplant found a free home when Devin revamped a food storage can into a pretty painted planter.
Devin used a screwdriver and hammer to create a drainage hole in the bottom of her #10 can. Then she spray painted the outside and the first few inches of the inside a brushed metallic gold. After putting painters tape where she wanted the new color to begin, she used a sponge brush to paint on the contrasting color. Once the paint was dry and the plant was in, Devin placed it in a spot of honor on her porch. Doesn’t it look great?
