A Global Solution to a Broken Light

Roeschel was almost done installing a beautiful brand-new light fixture when the glass cracked. (Noooo!) But hey, Roeschel is clearly a “make lemonades out of lemon” kind of gal. She hunted down supplies from around her house (specifically a thrift store globe) and got to work! Check out her new light fixture at DIY Showoff.

Roeshel disassembled the globe, then separated it at the equator. She cut a hole in the top for the light fitting, then painted the inside of the globe with a metallic craft paint. But she says “a high heat/temperature paint is a better, safer option,” along with a flame-proof coating. And a low-wattage bulb. We don’t want any globes catching on fire. Roeschel attached bias tape around the perimeter with hot glue and then she was ready to install her beautiful new light fixture!
