Christine blogs at Must Love Home. She tells us, “This cabinet began as an island in the kitchen of my first home.” No longer needing it in her kitchen, the solid wood cabinet had sat outside on Christine’s porch, until inspiration struck one day in the form of a Pottery Barn catalog.

Spotting a cabinet sporting a dark finish in the pages of her catalog, Christine decided that she’d give her old island a makeover and turn it into a bar for her porch. After a thorough cleaning of the cabinet, she used spray paint to refinish both the wood and the hardware. Now that it’s finished, Christine is really pleased with the results. “The cabinet actually folds out to make a small bar, or a larger serving counter. It comes in really handy when we have alot of people over,” she reports.
