Trash to Treasure projects
Pauline knows how “one piece of furniture can set the tone or inspiration for the whole room.” After introducing a beautiful new striped chair to her living room, she felt inspired to switch up some of her accessories to match it. Over at Club Chica Circle this old jewelry box found a new identity as a box for remote controls. (And hey, what living room doesn’t need one of those?)
Today’s rescue comes from Courtney of A Diamond in the Stuff. When she found a broken stool on the curb, she knew she’d eventually find a use for it. The stool’s day of destiny arrived, and now it’s a drink stand, perfect for an outdoor get-together!
Okay, I just have to say that it is seriously hard to believe that this gorgeous and well-designed entry hallway is the product of not one, but TWO rescue projects! The fabulous furnishings in this hallway didn’t start out quite so pretty as they are now. Instead, ChiWei of One Dog Woof started out with an old dining room console and a couple of free wine crates from the local wine shop.
I think we’ve all had (or currently have) a spot in our home that “really wasn’t working.” Megan’s was in her home office. At The Homes I Have Made, Megan is showing us how she took an Ikea filing cabinet that was just collecting clutter, added a hidden printer and laminator along with some fabulous personal touches, and turned her awkward bit of wall space “into the gem of the room!”
Here’s a quick project that you can make that you probably have most of the materials for already on hand. It’s a hanging scarf organizer, and Jessica from Living on the Cheap came up with it. The first step is easy: pull out a plastic hanger from your closet.
Mindy blogs at MyLove2Create, but she shared this nifty rescue at My Repurposed Life. This beat-up, cheap laminate cabinet was a free find that Mindy picked up when she was picking up some other Craigslist freebies.
At Rain on a Tin Roof, Jenna was delighted when friends passed along this tea trolley to her. “Don’t you just love friends who give you their junk?” she laughs. The cart was a bit rusty and dirty, but Jenna could see the potential.
