Trash to Treasure projects
These cabinet doors were a curbside treasure that caught Mindi’s eye and made her slam on the brakes! She brought them home and decided to turn them into a desk for her boys. At My Love 2 Create, she says, “When I finished this desk and put in my boys’ room it is was a toss up for who was more giddy, me or my boys.”
Christine blogs at Must Love Home. She tells us, “This cabinet began as an island in the kitchen of my first home.” No longer needing it in her kitchen, the solid wood cabinet had sat outside on Christine’s porch, until inspiration struck one day in the form of a Pottery Barn catalog.
Gilly found this vintage cabinet in the back of a shed. She says of it’s sadly neglected condition, ” Someone at one point in time had used it as target practice….its had patches of dried mud all over it like someone had thrown mud balls at it!” Gilly shares the makeover she gave this diminutive piece at Colour Saturated Life.
Not long ago, I featured a china cabinet makeover from High Style Restyle. Well, that was only one of several projects that Amy and her dad have been making from pieces of the china cabinet he found on the roadside. Today, I’m sharing another one: their new apothecary-style cabinet.
“My 72-year-old dad found this china cabinet curbside,” says Amy of High Style ReStyle. “My dad doesn’t get excited at much but from the beginning it held an attachment for him. He couldn’t get over someone discarding such a high-quality piece of furniture,” she explains. His excitement inspired her to turn the old cabinet into a special surprise for Dad.
“My dad snatched this old sewing cabinet for me up from the street,” explains Ronja at her blog, Nur Noch. It was just the right size for her sewing supplies, so she decided to pretty it up with a makeover.

This little cabinet was discovered in the attic by Camille of Gustave & Voltaire when she moved into her home. “When I saw it I realized how beautiful it could look,” Camille tells us. “Like in that 80’s movie when the plain secretary transforms into a bomb by letting her hair down and taking off her glasses.” Ha!
